Nicolas Drummond

I have discovered the Brit in the FBI series by Catherine Coulter and J. T. Ellison. Unfortunately, I discovered it on the 4th book, The Devil's Triangle. Now I am going back and reading from the beginning, which fills in lots of gaps.

The Final Cut introduces Drummond as a member of the Met and New Scotland Yard. He comes to NY because some of the Crown Jewels have been stolen and one of his collegues has been murdered. We get to meet Drummond, Kitsune and Mike from the beginning.

Kitsune is an interesting character; she is a consummate thief with a conscience. Mike is a member of the FBI who helps Nick with the case.

An added plus is that they work with Sherlock and Savage who are some of my most favorite fictional characters.

I haven't finished the first book yet, but when I do I will post a report!!

Cheers mates!

reading now

Zodiac by Graysmith....almost read the whole thing in one sitting after seeing the movie

Zodiac Unmasked is my next read

Bart Ehrman's Truth and Fiction in the Da Vinci Code....just have to see what the "expert" says.

Heavens, I have been on a FreeMasonry tangent ever since seeing the Secrets of FreeMasonry on the Discovery Times channel:
Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry
Encyclopeadia of Freemasonry by Macoy (i think) written in the 1800s
Dictionary of Freemasonry
Signs and Symbols of Freemasonry
several other books.......all of which tell just enough of the story to put you at ease and not enough to alarm anyone ;) A very Deist organization....well except in France apparently!

Let's see what else have I been perusing......
Just got some Penguin classics:
Chaucer's Canterbury Tales - a very good translation
Rama the Steadfast
Life is a Dream - an early Spanish title I will probably send to a friend

Have started several books but just couldn't get into them:
and can't remember the names right now LOLOLOL!
They really made an impression, huh? ;)

Have listened to many audio books in my office:
Innocent in Death - J.D. Robb - always a good read
What Paul Meant - Gary Wills - getting in touch with my inner Catholic
11 Days in December by Stanley Wientraub - a history of the Battle of the Bulge which actually moved quite rapidly for me and was highly enjoyed

I have been disappointed in my Clive Cussler audios though....the same guy did a Steven Coonts novel and I can't keep but thinking Jake Grafton my pop in any minute.....also these aren't Dirk Pitt so they are kinda sluggish (Golden Buddah & Sacred Stone). I still love Dirk Pitt the best!

Oh and when I want a laugh, I still turn to my new fave Celia Rivenbark. She writes for the Myrtle Beach newspaper and we have the same Suth'n sense of decorum and humour!! Check her out at CeliaRivenbark.com.

Well that's it for now!
More books are piling on my doorstep as I type!

The Quickie - James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge

WOW!!!
What a thrill ride!!
I must say this is the best Patterson I have read in a loooooooong time!
It has more twists and turns than a windy road up the Smokey Mountain National Park!!
A must read....coming in July.

The Mephisto Club - Tess Gerritson

This book was awesome! It has been a long drought between good books for me....I have started alot and could not finish them; most notably, Zig Zag by Jose Carlos Somoza (reminds me of Hollow Man the movie), Storm Runners by Jefferson (reminds me of Mulholland Falls the movie), American Gunfight (a historical look at the attempted assassination of Harry S. Truman in 1950) was actually pretty good since I flipped thru all the extraneous personal details of the players and focused on the incident itself. Overall, The Mephisto Club is the best book I have read in a very loooooooong time.

2005 Booklist

As I am a voracious reader, I decided to make a blog about my books that I read!

My first of the year was the new Clive Cussler novel, Black Wind. It was a Dirk Pitt adventure and featured his son and daughter as the main characters trying to head off a biological attack. It is one of his best and follows his unique style of presenting viable situations in the near future. Many of the adventures have actually come to pass such as the Raising of the Titanic which was done very closely to what he described.

Cussler has a massive knowledge of nautical procedures and history and uses it to accent his adventures but his knowledge base does not end there. He also uses old cars and vintage aircraft in his stories which make them interesting to history buffs like me! It is amazing how he blends historical events into adventures that have a realism almost unmatched in the publishing world.

I highly recommend any of his books if you like derring do and historical fiction.

I believe his website is www.clivecussler.com if you wish to visit!
